Quadrennial. RN/LPN licenses renew by April 1 every 4 years; the APRN certificate carries no independent cycle and expires when the RN license (or the underlying national certification) expires, whichever comes first.

Renewal fee
$160 RN/LPN license renewal every four years (as of 2026-05-08; AZBN agency fee schedule). The APRN certificate renews on the same cycle alongside the RN license; the schedule has no standalone APRN renewal line and the $150 'Nurse Practitioner (NP)' figure on the schedule is for initial certification, not renewal. Late RN/LPN renewal adds $50/month not to exceed $200.

Arizona does NOT mandate a statewide CE hour total for APRN renewal. APRN renewal eligibility is built on (a) practicing 960+ hours as an APRN in the past 5 years and (b) maintaining active national certification — cert maintenance carries the CE burden through the certifying body (ANCC, AANPCB, etc.). APRNs holding an active DEA registration must additionally complete at least 3 hours of opioid-related, substance-use-disorder-related, or addiction-related CE per A.R.S. §32-3248.02.

DEA practitioner registrations renew on a three-year cycle and are tied to a specific practice address — multi-site clinicians typically hold one DEA per practice location, each with its own number and clock. The first renewal on or after June 27, 2023 also required a one-time MATE Act 8-hour training attestation; once attested, the credit carries forward.

Yes — Arizona is a full NLC member.
